99 Days Until Disney

Those of you who follow this blog will know that Amy and I love Disney! For as long as I can remember, the movies and the characters have had a very special place in my heart and in my childhood. I’ve seen the Little Mermaid and Aladdin more times than I’ve blinked in my life and my favourite songs to sing along to whilst cleaning are Disney ones. 

When I imagined having children, part of what I thought about was sharing my love of Disney with them. I never went to any Disney Parks as a child, but I have been to Paris a fair bit as an adult and would often think about taking a child there. I thought about how magical it would be to share the experiences with my own family and how different it would be to see the characters that I grew up with through the eyes of a child.

We first took Eden to a Disney Park – Disneyland Paris – at six months old. You can read my blog entry about our trip here if you wanted to catch up. Although she was too little to “appreciate” the parks, it was awesome to spend that time as a family in one of my favourite places. We worried that she would be scared of the characters, but it was entirely the opposite. On the first day she was a little wary, but by the end of the holiday she was screeching and pointing in the queues!

With compensation that I’d been waiting for since 2013 coming through in January and Eden’s love of Disney growing by the day, Amy and I decided to book two weeks in Disneyworld Florida for Eden’s second birthday. Amy has been before, but I never have and obviously Eden hasn’t either. December birthdays are a bit of a pain in the butt anyway with it being difficult to organise anything at all essentially ten days before Christmas, so we thought a bit of winter sun would be a good plan.

In the weeks that followed our booking being made, we booked restaurants, made plans for which parks to go to on which day and stocked up on Disney related clothing for our little disney-a-holic. Apparently we can book three fast passes a day to skip the queue on some attractions once we are within sixty days of our holiday, so that’s something to think about. We have breakfast in the castle booked, dinner at Chef Mickey’s and all manner of “dreams come true” type stuff. We’re well aware that in terms of rides, there are a lot that Eden will still be too little for, but that’s ok. For us, this is not once in a lifetime stuff.

We’re now ninety nine days away and I am ridiculously excited. I cannot wait to spend the time away with my family. I can’t wait to see how Eden feels about the characters now she is a little older and I cannot wait to make some magical memories. Will Eden remember it? Nope! But we will…
