Not sure what #MicroblogMondays is? Read the inaugural post which explains the idea and how you can participate too.
I don’t have many mummy friends. I have basically none nearby and I hate baby groups as I quite often find them a little judgey. Today I stepped out of my comfort zone and posted the following on a lovely local online mummy group that I’m in.
“Ok, here goes. Going against my social anxiety now! *deep breath*
HI! I’m Laura and I have a 7 1/2 month old girlie called Eden who is DESPERATE to make some new friends! Mummy has social anxiety but Eden is a social butterfly!
Does anyone want to have a little baby/mummy(or daddy!) meet up at soft play at ********** tomorrow early afternoon? It’s free for under 1’s and it’d be lovely for Eden to have some buddies to shout at and for me to make some mummy friends too.
Anyone? ANYONE?
*goes back off to my corner*
(Pic for cuteness!)”
So far we have two new friends to meet tomorrow and a few who want to meet on other days. Wish us luck!

I know exactly how you feel ! I have to force myself to take my youngest to baby groups and she’s a social butterfly too! I was thinking about doing something similar – good luck for your meet ups 🙂 Gorgeous photo 🙂
Yay! Well done. I have pretty bad sociak anxiety so know how difficult that must have been. Good on you. Hope it goes well x
What a fantastic photo! And good job on moving beyond social anxiety. I do not do well in big groups, or gathering where we can’t all participate freely in a conversation, so I applaud you stepping outside the box.
May you make many new friends!
Good for you for putting yourself out there! I hope it was a fun playdate.
Well done! Have you tried Mush? It’s an app a bit like tindr/grindr but for mums (although without the sex obviously)!
I have not! Might have a look. Thankyou x
