Today I watched Disney’s Into the Woods. I’m a huuuuge musical theatre fan so was super excited about seeing it – even more so due to the presence of Meryl Streep. Plus I adore the music of Stephen Sondheim.
I loved the film, but one of the storylines made me giggle as it is a story all too familiar for those suffering with Infertility. Here’s a short synopsis of that particular plot line.
When a Baker and his Wife learn they’ve been cursed with childlessness by the Witch next door, they embark on a quest for the special objects ( a cow as white as milk, a cape as red as blood, hair as yellow as corn, a slipper as pure as gold) required to break the spell.
Doesn’t it remind you of our infertility journeys here in the real world? Always jumping through hoops to get what we need, always searching for that something else so that the gate will be unlocked and our dreams come true.
I have a doctor appointment in the morning. Maybe this appointment (the fourth doctor I’ve seen with nothing real being done) will be the final piece to my puzzle. Maybe this doctor will be my slipper as pure as gold…
Does that mean the first Doctor I saw was a cow?
I liked the line, I’m Prince Charming not Prince Sincere or something like that as he done the dirty on his Princess. There is a lesson there somewhere!
