Part two of our dog saga. As you all know, we lost our lovely dog, Gizmo, almost three weeks ago now. Our other dog, Misty, has never been without him. The first couple of days after we lost him, she was totally fine, but the third day she took a turn. She was moping around, crying at the door, whihing randomly and looking for him the whole day. You could realy tell that she was grieving, which was heartbreaking. The following day I was back at work as was Amy, and Amy’s sister and friend were kind enough to come and look after Misty for the day.
That night we got a new addition to our family. This is Loki. Loki is a Border Collie cross Cocker Spaniel and he is a little handful! When we first brought him home, Misty and him were equally as scared of eachother! But they were soon playing and at present they are the absolute best of friends. She has perked up ten fold since having a little buddy to look after. It seems she is making quite the wonderful big sister.
We chose his name because Loki is the god of mischief, and we sometimes call Misty misdemeanor. He is currently living up to his name one hundred percent and is into absolutely everything. Today he caught sight of his own reflection in the glass fireplace and barked at it for fifteen minutes…
He’s not a replacement for Gizmo, but he is helping to heal the wound left behind by the loss of our darling boy. Hopefully Loki will become just as treasured a member of the family as Gizmo was and will always be.
Here’s a little collage of our newest family member.
Aww, he’s a cutie! They are adorable together. I’m so glad Misty is happier. We adopted Rolo for similar reasons years ago when Twix was heartbroken because we moved away from our roommate’s dog/Twix’s best friend. Best thing we ever did.
It’s amazing how well they are getting on. I think some dogs need canine company š
How adorable. How old is he?
He’s twelve weeks š
Oh my!!! So cute – think he knows it, too. Perfect name. Love it.
Awww how cute! We had a Loki too awhile back. We sadly lost our Loki but maybe he’s reincarnated in your Loki. Sorry if he chews any shoes. š
