Christmas! One of my favourite times of year! I love a lot of things about Christmas. I like the cold, I like pretty lights and magic in the air. I like shopping for random things that those I love will really like.
The last couple of years haven’t been amazing with regards to Christmas. In 2012 I worked THE WHOLE THING. Twelve hour shifts on Christmas Eve, Christmas day and Boxing Day too. And the same again on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Then last year we moved house on December 23rd, which didn’t leave a great amount of time for general Christmas related activity. We had a lovely day on the day itself and Amy cooked a lovely dinner, but with no decorations and no tree, and most of our things still in boxes, it wasn’t the best.
Consequently, this year our decorations went up mid November. Call it early. Call it overzealous. Call it whatever you wish. But it makes me and Amy happy. It’s adding a lovely sparkle to our lives at the moment and means the house looks lovely. There are more decorations to come, but for now here’s what our house is looking like at the moment.
In a dramatic difference to the past few years, this year we are both free as birds for the duration. Thanks to my new job, I am not working any of the holidays this year, which means we can both relax and just have a couple of days together. It’s going to be great!
I hope this Christmas brings you all everything you have wished for. Even if this Christmas doesn’t bring up our positive pregnancy test, I’m hopeful that by this time next year our tree might have a “Baby’s First Christmas” decoration on it.
Looks beautiful! We hung our lights outside yesterday and I spent half of the evening watching them through the window!
I love Christmas too! We just decorated and I love it
Ooh your candles have made me feel all Christmassy! Can’t wait to put ours up next week. Lovely that you are off this year, it’s so important to have some time over the busy festive period to relax, eat too much and watch films you nearly know by heart anyway.
I really hope next Christmas has that decoration on your tree as well 🙂
My wife wanted to set the tree up last weekend. Being a good former Catholic I convinced her to wait until closer to Advent.
So fab that you’ve gone all out! However…if those are movable Disney princess (& prince) dolls in clear tubes (on the dresser)… Then I reckon you really ought to get creative in their pairings and make some princess/princess and prince/prince couples 😉 Although perhaps they are just images?? Hard to tell as the pic is not clear on my phone.
They’re limited edition dolls so can’t come out of their cases 🙂
Our place always looks like it threw up Christmas. After Thanksgiving, my house was completely done! Even my shower curtain! Your place looks great!!!!
